Design and development
Andreas Kaitis designed Soundcat and directed its development. He shaped the software architecture and how the instrument responds when you play it. He used AI assistance during development.
Randomize
Not a scramble.
Randomize starts a new branch: a playable set of values, plus a few musical modulation routes and typed engine routes. Mutate stays on the branch you are on and nudges it. Locks, tempo, and audio-file paths stay put.
Branch
Lanes you can return to.
Variations are lanes, not a single undo stack you fall off. Randomize forks. Mutate continues the selected lane. Edits stay on the variation you picked. Earlier futures remain, and you can go back to one.
A / B
Compare, then morph.
Two sounds held at once. Compare them, then morph between the pair. Exploring a variation does not wipe the A and B ends or the morph position.
Recordings will live on YouTube. These frames stay quiet until then.
